Orwell Independent was set up to help organisations listen (or listen better) to their stakeholders. We create bespoke and engaging projects with high strategic and commercial value. We build and execute independent client reviews, employee experience & engagement analysis, investor perception studies, and other stakeholder appraisal.
Our aim is to take the heavy lifting away from management teams but engage with them over our knowledge-rich reports, with the goal of proposing action points to improve, amongst other things retention, productivity and profitability. Projects also serve to validate operations and strategy, and provide valuable, independently generated, testimonial.

Rory has 25 years' public and private company experience dedicated to small and growth companies across a wide range of sectors including financials, support services, clean tech, healthcare, technology, resources and consumer.
He began his career at Merrill Lynch International and subsequently worked at ABN/RBS Hoare Govett, Canaccord Genuity and Peel Hunt LLP in equity sales, corporate broking, and capital markets positions. He led or advised on numerous AIM and Main List transactions including IPOs, follow-on raises, and sell-downs/exits for corporates and other stakeholders, while becoming a trusted and consistently highly rated broker to his institutional fund management clients.
Before Orwell, Rory supported the development of environmental and impact businesses in strategic, funding, and commercial partnership roles. He has been an highly active NED of an AIM listed business.
Today, our clients represent several business sectors, including but not limited to Wealth Management, Search/Recruitment, B2B Research, Property, Marketing & Design, Web Services and Private Equity.
